It is the mission of Montezuma Elementary School to pursue the continuous learning necessary to ensure grade-level achievement for every student.
It is the vision of Montezuma Elementary School to be highly respected within our community for fostering exceptional academic growth.
Principal's Message
Hello Montezuma Family and Friends,
My name is Jim Cowan, and I have had the privilege of serving as the principal at Montezuma for many years. At Montezuma, we are dedicated to ensuring our students receive a valuable education that supports their academic, social, emotional, and overall well-being. One of our main goals is to help our students develop the belief and confidence in themselves to take an active role in their own learning experience.
Montezuma has many programs that create a fun and challenging learning environment for our students. One of these is AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), which introduces our students to instructional techniques and strategies, organizational skills, and time management. AVID focuses on preparing students for higher education, including college and vocational education. Another program we offer is the PLTW (Project Lead the Way), with courses in Medical Detectives and Robotics. These classes emphasize math and science while exposing our students to industries that could lead to meaningful careers in the future. We also have PBIS Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) and PLUS Positive Leaders Uniting Student program, both of which are designed to cultivate and sustain a positive learning environment and school culture.
All staff at Montezuma, look forward to working with all our students along with their families to help our students grow into productive, well-rounded individuals' for themselves and their families.
We look forward to partnering with you in your child’s educational journey!
Respectfully,
Jim Cowan
